Christmas,  our house

Christmas home tour – my family room

Welcome! This is the view from my front door. I kept Christmas a little more simple around here this year. I wanted to make my home feel nostalgic, like Christmas’s past.

I like to keep a lot of my décor out and add Christmas touches to each spot. Normally I set up one of my villages on this dresser in my entry. This year however, I wanted to keep my typewriter and camera out so I just added a santa and some berries to the mix.

I moved my chair and put my tree in the corner next to the couch. I did this last year and I really liked it. You can see the tree in the door, and it was a great spot for our family to open presents.

I added a Christmas pillow to my couch, kept the flour sack on the ottoman, and put the deer in my old salmon box. My daughter hates the deer there, but I love how rustic he looks with the box. Like they were meant to be placed together.

I added a few touches to the cabinet on the other side of the couch. I kept the original décor the same, just added these cute deer my uncle made for us and my Merry Christmas sign.

This is probably my favorite Christmas vignette I have in my house. It all feels like it was meant to go together.

I made this Christmas plate years ago and it went so well with my vintage santa. I found some Christmas books last year, and just placed dollar store ornaments in a sundae dish.

I added this Christmas pillow and the “Yak” blanket, as my kids call it, to the couch. Warm and cozy for all the cold days we get around here.

Simple, and just the right amount of Christmas in the room.

I love adding Christmas decorations to my home. The thing about Christmas is to use what you have and what you love. If you like simple touches like me, add them. If you love to go all out, go for it. Just making it feel like your own makes the Christmas season feel all the more special.

I'm Erin, a busy mom of three, chauffeur, cook, housekeeper, and wanna be decorator. I love old movies, good books, and a daily trip to Lowes. We have recently bought a new home...one we are fixing up and changing everything. This blog is to record our renovating journey. This is not the first house we have done. Actually, it is our third. My husband and I love a project. Any project. We both love working on our home, have the same taste, (which is great), and love working and re purposing things on our budget. We can show you how to put together a high end and creative look without breaking the bank. Taking something old and recreating it into something new and exciting for any room is my passion. Hope you enjoy this decorating journey with us!
