A's room

Bedroom mood board

So with much persuasion from my twelve year old, I have decided to update her bedroom. She has talked to me “for some time now” about how she would love to have a teenager room. So I asked her what kind of colors that she likes, what kinds of things she wants to have in her room, and what she is mostly going to use her room for. After I found all that out, I sat down and created a mood board for her room. This is how I love to start every room because first, it is on the computer, I haven’t purchased anything, and I can work with her to get her feedback on what she likes. Then, when I am ready to start the room, I have researched everything and know what to buy or colors to get, and the room comes together beautifully. So here is the starting point of her bedroom.

This is the bedspread she picked. It is a gray jersey comforter from Target

I then asked her about wall color. We picked the color tide water from Sherwin Williams.

I knew that I wanted to add an accent color so I found some coral pillows for her bed.

She wanted a reading chair in her room. She asked for a chair that was a barrel shape. So I planned in a gray barrel chair for the corner of her room.

I wanted one more pop of color…something funky and unexpected, so I talked her into painting her dresser and emerald green color.

I like to accessorize the room after all the painting and large furniture is done. She was happy about our ideas, and now it is off to work. Can’t wait to share all the details!

I'm Erin, a busy mom of three, chauffeur, cook, housekeeper, and wanna be decorator. I love old movies, good books, and a daily trip to Lowes. We have recently bought a new home...one we are fixing up and changing everything. This blog is to record our renovating journey. This is not the first house we have done. Actually, it is our third. My husband and I love a project. Any project. We both love working on our home, have the same taste, (which is great), and love working and re purposing things on our budget. We can show you how to put together a high end and creative look without breaking the bank. Taking something old and recreating it into something new and exciting for any room is my passion. Hope you enjoy this decorating journey with us!
