Christmas home tour – my dining room
So the dining room is my last room I am going to share. It is where we have dinner every night, and has my favorite color on the walls. Christmas is fun to decorate in this room because of all the red that is already there. It just feels like Christmas all over.
I decorate my hutch and table every year, and this year I had my new console to decorate as well. I decided to put the village on top of it. I love it because we can sit and enjoy it every night.
When it is all lit up it adds such a fun glow in the room and you can see the other village across in the music room. It ties the two rooms together.
I also love decorating my table. This changes every year. I have done candles, ornaments in glass jars, poinsettas, you name it. This year I wanted it to be a little more simple. I took my chalkboard box and filled it with my evergreen plant, an apple, a sundae dish with ornaments, and some candles. It is low so you can see over it to talk to each other, and it is easy to move in case I want to put food on the table. I had everything already either around the house or in my Christmas box, so the whole thing was free. My new addition to the dining room this year is my car and trailer salt and pepper shaker. I love the fun vintage touch.
Another fun spot I love to add Christmas touches to is my hutch.
I love having a hutch in my dining room. I found this one and painted it when I was finishing the room. I love displaying my dishes and special memories in it. Christmas memories for me have a lot to do with meals and pretty tables. My grandma would always have a wonderful Christmas brunch every Christmas morning and would use the dishes I display in the hutch.
I love seeing them all Christmas season, and I always use them for our own Christmas dinner. It makes me think of her.
I made this santa in sixth grade for a home ec class. I still have it, and display it every year. This year I put it in the hutch and added some red ornaments to the bowls next to it.
My mom gave me this santa plate years ago and I got the fun candle windmill in Park City when our family was there for a vacation. I use my kid’s artwork everywhere. I have an apple my daughter painted for me displayed by the windmill for a pop of green.
Christmas is such a fun season, and I love opening up my boxes and displaying all the treasured memories we have collected over the year.
