A few new family room touches

A few months ago I was sitting and discussing our home with my husband when we both decided that we needed to update the game room upstairs. We needed different couches for that room, and I decided that if I was going to buy new couches I wanted them to be for the main floor, and the main floor couches could go upstairs. That decision has spurred on a whole long list of projects, and I love it!

I decided on lighter linen color couches since my kids are older. It makes the room so light and airy. I found a new rug at Lowes that goes with the room and I moved around the recipe cabinet and the radio. I wanted it to feel different, and it certainly does!

Putting the recipe cabinet along this wall made a lot more sense to me since it is right by the kitchen and I can quickly grab one of my cookbooks.

I love the radio in the corner. It feels so cozy and vintage. I have had the rocker upstairs in the game room and I decided to bring it down. I really like the way it goes with the couches and adds a pop of color to the room. This was one of the first pieces of furniture I bought twenty three years ago. It is a sentimental piece, I rocked all my babies in it, and I love that it goes so well in this space.

I found the marbel table at the same furniture store I bought the couches at. I love the marble top and how it looks a bit vintage and a bit modern at the same time.

I really like the way the room is coming together so far. I have one more chair on order, and we have plans to reupholster the ottoman. I’m excited to reveal the finished room!

I'm Erin, a busy mom of three, chauffeur, cook, housekeeper, and wanna be decorator. I love old movies, good books, and a daily trip to Lowes. We have recently bought a new home...one we are fixing up and changing everything. This blog is to record our renovating journey. This is not the first house we have done. Actually, it is our third. My husband and I love a project. Any project. We both love working on our home, have the same taste, (which is great), and love working and re purposing things on our budget. We can show you how to put together a high end and creative look without breaking the bank. Taking something old and recreating it into something new and exciting for any room is my passion. Hope you enjoy this decorating journey with us!
