Blue

I spent last weekend and the rest of this week painting my kitchen island. Most of the kitchen is white, but I wanted a pop of color on the kitchen island in the nook area.  I decided to go with the denim color I used in my front room.

We have the same style of cabinets built for the island, they just came unfinished and ready to paint.

We wanted to add some legs to add support to the granite and give the island character. So we built a skirt and attached legs to the sides to make it feel more like a piece of furniture.

It was so fun and easy to paint. I used pro classic enamel paint from Sherwin Williams, and let me tell you, I loved it! It went on so well, and has the best finish. It feels just like the doors that came pre finished on our other cabinets.  I brushed the legs and rolled the rest of the cabinet with my foam roller. It looks and feels just like we sprayed it.

I love the pop of color it adds to the kitchen. It makes it feel bright and fun. I am going to find some yellow bar stools to put around it for a little more color. We are waiting for granite, and then we need to add some back splash.  So close!

I'm Erin, a busy mom of three, chauffeur, cook, housekeeper, and wanna be decorator. I love old movies, good books, and a daily trip to Lowes. We have recently bought a new home...one we are fixing up and changing everything. This blog is to record our renovating journey. This is not the first house we have done. Actually, it is our third. My husband and I love a project. Any project. We both love working on our home, have the same taste, (which is great), and love working and re purposing things on our budget. We can show you how to put together a high end and creative look without breaking the bank. Taking something old and recreating it into something new and exciting for any room is my passion. Hope you enjoy this decorating journey with us!
