New front door

I got a new door! When we bought this house, I didn’t love the front door and I knew that eventually I would buy a new one.  My front door had a couple of fun looks while I was waiting for the new one.

First, it was the turquoise door.

Then I painted it apple green.  I was known as the house with the green door…seriously, that is how I described my house.

It was hard to choose a new door, it was a big purchase, and I wanted to get it just right. We ended up choosing this door, and I love it! I was nervous about all the glass in the door, but I love how open it makes the front of my house feel.

I had to paint front and back of the door. I decided to paint the inside door and side lights white, but I wanted a pop of color on the outside.

Normally I have painted all my doors with just regular valspar paint, but I chose to go with Modern marvels never fade door paint. The front of my house is on the west side, and I am worried about fading so I decided to give it a try.  The paint was great, I just had to brush it on instead of rolling it on with a foam roller like I usually do. When I started rolling the paint, it made small air bubbles so I quickly started brushing it to eliminate the problem.

It was a big project but I love the pop of color, and I love how it goes with the red brick and the gray color in my entry way. Defiantly worth the work!

I'm Erin, a busy mom of three, chauffeur, cook, housekeeper, and wanna be decorator. I love old movies, good books, and a daily trip to Lowes. We have recently bought a new home...one we are fixing up and changing everything. This blog is to record our renovating journey. This is not the first house we have done. Actually, it is our third. My husband and I love a project. Any project. We both love working on our home, have the same taste, (which is great), and love working and re purposing things on our budget. We can show you how to put together a high end and creative look without breaking the bank. Taking something old and recreating it into something new and exciting for any room is my passion. Hope you enjoy this decorating journey with us!
