Demo,  DIY,  Our other house,  Rooms I've Created

Let’s talk Kitchens

My kitchen demo has begun. I have waited for this moment since we have moved in four years ago.

We started by taking out the corner section of the kitchen. We decided to put a pantry in the corner instead of having wasted unusable counter space. This will give me two pantries which I know sounds weird, but I will no longer have to go downstairs to get food out of the storage room to cook dinner with.

We have the pantry framed and ready for dry wall. The cabinets are ordered, and we are waiting for them to be delivered. We are completely changing the layout of the kitchen which is a little nerve racking to me, but I have really thought this through the past four years, so hopefully we get it right.

This is the second kitchen remodel we have done. In our other kitchen we basically kept the layout the same, and had new cabinets made to replace the old ones.  Here is a picture of the kitchen in our old house.

I loved this kitchen! The cabinets were cream with a glaze on them. Jeff built the shelf on the side of the island and the range hood. The back splash was stone we laid in a brick pattern randomly replacing some stones with glass tiles. The tile detail above the stove was just a square piece of glass tiles laid in a diamond pattern framed with the stone tile edges. I loved the yellow color on the walls with the pops of red in the lights. It was a great lay out and a fun kitchen to cook in.

The kitchen we are doing for this house is going to be a little bit different.  My cabinets are going to be all white, no glaze. My walls are a light gray, the floors are wood, and the island is going to be a denim blue color. My other home had a lot more earth tone colors in it, and I am excited to try something new and light in this home. Remodeling a kitchen is a lot of work, but totally worth it in the end. It adds so much value to a home, and it is so nice to cook in a space that you love.

I'm Erin, a busy mom of three, chauffeur, cook, housekeeper, and wanna be decorator. I love old movies, good books, and a daily trip to Lowes. We have recently bought a new home...one we are fixing up and changing everything. This blog is to record our renovating journey. This is not the first house we have done. Actually, it is our third. My husband and I love a project. Any project. We both love working on our home, have the same taste, (which is great), and love working and re purposing things on our budget. We can show you how to put together a high end and creative look without breaking the bank. Taking something old and recreating it into something new and exciting for any room is my passion. Hope you enjoy this decorating journey with us!
